Description

These Acid-Free Whitecore Matboard Sheets, or mountboard sheets, are the paper board sheets from which window mats, or window mounts, are cut either by hand, or by machine, by picture framers, artists and hobbyists. The sheets sold below here are the  most common size, being 32"x40" or  81.5 x 101.6 cm in the four most popular colours, Cool White, Warm White,  Cream and Black.

The window mats, or window mounts ( more often simply called ‘mats’ ) are those coloured 'cards ', 'borders' , ‘surrounds’ or 'edges', which separate and go around the pictures, photos or images  when these are framed.

A common use for a window mat  ( by way of instance ) is to accommodate, or to adapt, a large picture frame to accept a smaller picture inside it, such as our popular,  A3( 29.7 x 42 cm ) Black Wood Matted Picture Frame .

Window Mats Material Technical Specifications:

The Acid-Free, Peterboro Whitecore Matboard sheets are compliant to and with the PPFA CLASS III standards and being of the 4 ply thickness: 0.052″ or 1.2 mm. The face paper is  non-acidic, buffered and lignin-free, proffering a sharp, crisp clean bevel.

The core is also buffered against acids, rendering bright, white bevel cuts which do not discolour.  The high-quality backing offers a clean, sharp, white core. All components are free of noxious lignin, harmful groundwood,  unbleached pulp and are buffered to an alkaline pH (7.5 to 9.5) with at least 3% calcium carbonate reserve for prolonged stability.
