To write about the Norman Lindsay Limited Edition Etchings that were created by one of Australia's, if no the most,  prominent artist is a formidable task!  However this post is neither an essay  nor a disquisition  on one of Australia's most famous sons.  Our intention here is merely to provide a working snapshot of the artist's work within the context of just one of the several arts he transcended, that of his art on paper, or etchings.  Although Norman Lindsay, ( NL ) excelled in writing, painting, sculpting, poetry, prose, cabinetry  and other artistic fields, it is by way of his famous etchings that the general public know of him.  Indeed, and so far as we concerned ... 

 Picture frame mouldings?   What are these?  Well, let’s clarify it!   These are long sticks of wood, often between 2.5 to 3.5 metres long, from which picture framers cut the sections of wood needed to make up picture frames.  Picture framers order these sticks, or moulding lengths, in big boxes  of various sizes from specific picture framing moulding suppliers.  Note the adjective “specialized” within the phrase picture framing moulding?  That’s needed because your local hardware store might also sell wood mouldings, but most certainly not picture framing mouldings.  When four or more  ...

We can reasonably surmise that walls, shelves, window sills, fireplace mantels, floors and chairs even, have always served as either hanging, resting,  or standing points for photo frames and picture frames for centuries. Ah, ordering  art online, it’s something that most of us have done or will do at one time or another. And by art, we certainly don’t mean the crypto art being flogged online nowadays which isn’t just cryptic but basically incomprehensible to most folks. We mean art on paper, mostly being drawings, limited editions, lithographs, serigraphs, watercolours, gouaches or small oil paintings. In times gone by, Customers would visit art shows, attend art galleries or visit artists’ studios to buy art. We venture to say that at least every household has some shadow box picture frames hung on a wall that will make the beholder sniffle, if not cry, in a happy, emotional response.  Typically the framed item might be a photograph, a note, a document or an object marking or commemorating a birth, a newborn wristband,  cast of baby hands or feet, a christening,  a school report or something and anything just as close or as dear to a family’s heart.  This brings us to one inescapable truth of life, all children will eventually grow up, and become adults.   And adults love their birthdays, just as much as children  ...

Saving Customers with their picture frames and picture framing inquiries questions, queries, sales, complaints and problems is what our Customer Service is all about.  No two  Customer are like, and so are the challenges.  For instance, we have been packing parcels in the same manner and method for years.  And  while one Customer will post us a glowing review for how we do it, yet another will complain that there’s too much packing.  We do however have very good business reputation which, in great part, derives from our experience in the picture framing industry, around 50 years. ... 

Yes, we’re making  an intended  pun here to Elton John’s famous 1976 ballad, but the sentiment, how to say some thing tough firmly. but nicely, such as the negation, no;  is much the same.  While custom picture framers the world over pride themselves  on customer service, sometimes, someone, someplace will have to say no to some Customers’ requests. And saying no to, anyone, especially Customers who are our business lifeblood and livelihood, can be the hardest word, as the song says. We are no different, and over the years we have had to respectfully decline various types of requests ..

When it comes  to artists' regrets, mistakes and failures of times pas, it should come as no surprise to our readers that many of our picture framers are, were or have been artists and fine arts practitioners.  Artists create, and once art is created, it would be anathema to secret it out of sight.  Indeed, it must be shown, displayed and exhibited. Throughout history much art has been and still produced on canvas and paper.  And art on paper is largely pencil, crayon, watercolour, gouache, charcoal or  other mixed media on paper.  As such is expedient to put this art in picture frames, in fact, what could be, more natural?  But just “ to frame” art, is that enough?  Nay, we say, if art is to be framed it must be done well, or not at all.
